Professional Scope
Michelle acts across immigration and asylum work, including:
- deportation;
- asylum/ protection claims;
- human rights appeals under/ outside the Immigration Rules (including Appendix FM and private life routes);
- Matters arising from domestic abuse or criminality;
- trafficking‑related claims and matters involving other vulnerable clients;
- immigration bail and detention‑related issues;
- points‑based system, citizenship, revocation and entry clearance appeals;
- judicial review and administrative review challenges.
Background
Prior to coming to the Bar, Michelle worked in the legal profession for over 15 years. She gained substantial experience in refugee and humanitarian contexts, including within the legal department of the UNHCR and as a senior caseworker for Refugee & Migrant Justice, experience that now informs her immigration practice in protection, trafficking and vulnerability‑related matters.
Public Access (Direct Access)
Michelle is authorised to accept Public Access (Direct Access) instructions. She is also authorised to conduct litigation.
Training for firms and organisations
Michelle is available to provide in‑house training to immigration teams both in the legal and charity/NGO sectors.
Outside practice
Michelle supports animal welfare initiatives. She is multi-lingual and proficient in Urdu, Hindi and Arabic.
