Today – we continue to introduce to you our members at 12 Old Square and today’s member we would like to introduce to you to is Mr Shahadoth Karim.
Shahadoth has a successful and dynamic practice in all areas of immigration and nationality law. In recent times, Shahadoth has been involved in several landmark cases.
He has found success in the lead ETS/TOEIC appeal in the Court of Appeal in respect of new style decisions, see Khan & Ors v Secretary of State for the Home Department  EWCA Civ 1684 (17 July 2018).
He appeared for one of the cases in the linked, 322(5) HMRC tax discrepancy, test appeals in Balajigari v The Secretary of State for the Home Department  EWCA Civ 673 (16 April 2019), which was streamed live by the Court of Appeal. This too was a monumental case which received widespread media coverage and established/confirmed significant legal principles.
He was also instrumental in re-establishing the recognition of proxy marriages in the EEA context, see Awuku v Secretary of State for the Home Department  EWCA Civ 178 (23 March 2017).
Outside of the law, Shahadoth was the founding editor of the prestigious British Bangladeshi Who’s Who publication. Shahadoth also enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and sports.
