Ronald Layne
Ronald read law at Kings College London and graduated with a LLB degree in 1991. He was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1992. He pursued a Masters in Law and was awarded a LLM by University College London in 1993.
Ronald became a member of chambers in December 1996. He practises in the areas of immigration; landlord and tenant; general common law.
Ronald is an experienced practitioner who has appeared regularly in the immigration tribunal, both at the first tier and upper tribunal levels. He has represented appellants in entry clearance, asylum, human rights and deportation cases. He has also represented applicants applying for immigration bail and has had over the years a high success rate in bail been granted by tribunal judges. Ronald has represented clients from diverse backgrounds from many countries. He has had many successes in which appellants have had their appeals allowed by the immigration tribunal. Apart from advocacy, Ronald is experienced in drafting appellants’ skeleton arguments.
Ronald has represented tenants in the county court. He has also acted for clients in the county court who have applied to set aside judgment or have applied for summary judgment.
As well as practising at the Bar, Ronald in the past has been a part-time visiting college law lecturer.
In his spare time, Ronald enjoys reading, current affairs and playing the piano.
