Criminal Law – Motoring offences
Mela focuses on representing clients in legal cases related to motoring offences. Mela has particular experience in appearing in court for first appearances/sentencing for drink/drug driving offences, speeding, driving without due care and attention, fail to stop, totting up etc. She also has exceptional experience in arguing special reasons/exceptional hardship in the Magistrates Court amongst other mitigating factors when considering sentences. Mela regularly undertakes applications to have a disqualification suspended pending appeal.
Immigration, Human Rights & Asylum Law
In this area of law Mela undertakes primary appellants cases in the Tribunal and has successfully appeared before the First-tier Tribunal in representing the appellants.
She handles all aspects of immigration and asylum law, including cases involving the Human Rights Convention, international protection (the 1951 Refugee Convention), entry clearance cases, deportation appeals, family reunion cases and bail matters.
